Let's leave the "real" world behind for a moment. We'll kick off our shoes, curl up on the sofa with a favorite book and spend some time with our imagination.
Have you ever heard yourself say, "The book was better," after viewing a movie? There's a reason for that. Your imagination is wilder than anything Steven Spielberg can create. As kids, we lived with every nook and cranny of our imagination engaged. I know I did.
Mud became cake, with dandelions and grass making beautiful decorations. A doghouse was a castle, and we, princesses. Our hair flew in the breeze as we galloped like horses in the tall grass. Shoes were cars for our Barbie dolls and bricks made wonderful Barbie doll beds.
The thing is, we could "see" these things in our mind, and they were real. As we grew up, we were told to let go of these precious, youthful ways. And we did... some of us. Others held fast to their vivid memories and never forgot that mud cakes taste like creamy chocolate, clouds paint pictures if you lay on your back on a hot summer day and watch them glide by and books are filled with newfound friends you will hold in your heart forever.
