10 Questions with Merri Hiatt and 2,000+ Downloads

Ethan Jones posted an interview with me on his website (linky goodness: The topic: Marayah's Return and writing. Swing by Ethan's website and check it out if you have a minute.

In other news, THANK YOU for making it possible that 2,000+ e-books have been downloaded since I began self-publishing at the end of September, 2011.

I was shocked when I passed the 1,000 download mark and am equally surprised to have surpassed the 2,000 mark.

I remember sitting in my high school creative writing class thinking, "Wouldn't it be great to write for a living? Spending all my time with words and connecting with the people who read those words."

Now, I'm doing just that and I feel incredibly lucky and grateful to be sharing characters and storylines with all of you. What a joy!

Name the coffee shop contest!

I'm writing a new romance trilogy (yay!) and I need your help. The main location where all three women in the trilogy work is a coffee shop. I need a name for the coffee shop.

What's in it for you if you help me out? I will give the winner a paperback copy of the first book in the trilogy FREE. You can submit as many names for the coffee shop as you like. I will choose the one I like best on January 10th.

A little background... the location is a seaside town and the coffee shop is located fairly close to the main boardwalk in town. The coffee shop serves coffee (obviously), but also espresso, tea, bottled juices and specialty drinks, as well as pre-made deli items (sandwiches, salads, muffins, doughnuts, cookies, etc.).

Post your suggestions at the Merri Hiatt Books Facebook page. Here's a link:

All Hallow's Eve - poem

Ghosties and ghoulies go bumping in the night

Sounds making you jumpy with nerves, what a fright

A knock on the door gives you cause for alarm

Just trick-or-treaters, they don’t mean any harm

Jack o’ lanterns gleam in a black midnight sky

Hey, what was that? Was it a witch flying by?

Zombies awaken, rising up from the dead

A path made of body parts lay in their stead

The veil between living and dying, you see

Is as close as can be on All Hallow’s Eve

I realize it just turned October, but November will be here before you know it and along with November comes (drum roll, please...), National Novel Writing Month, more commonly known as NaNoWriMo.

I encourage you to visit the NaNoWriMo website and sign up. Linky goodness:

Let your imagine soar, not caring about editing as you write. The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel during the month of November. We're talking 1,667 words per day if you're an "averaging" kind of person.

Are you up for the challenge? I double dog dare you. :D

Besides, what's the worst that can happen? You start a novel and don't finish it. Been there, done that (many times).

You know you want to try. ** nudge, nudge **

Join me and thousands of other writers as we make writing a priority.

NaNoWriMo, live it yourself this November.
